Mr. Johnson has a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Denver Sturm School of Law and degrees in journalism, history and education from the Pennsylvania State University system while working full-time. He was awarded honors for scholarship as an undergrad and in law school.
Mr. Johnson is a steadfast advocate in court, and while litigating cases and appeals at a steady rate for over 25 years, has built a good rapport with judges and attorneys throughout the Colorado and Federal Court systems. Erik was a partner in a front range law firm for over 25 years, presented civil rights claims, was a contractor for the US Dept. of Justice and handled construction and surety claims. His education and experience have given him particular skills in legal research and argument. Erik has been a lifeling advocate for social and economic justice, clean air, water and alternative energy. In his free time Erik enjoys spending time with family, enjoys the outdoors and building things that require woodworking, welding, masonry and heavy equipment.
Mr. Johnson is also a Registered Lobbyist having lobbied for Bail Bond Reform, Electric Vehicles and Civil Rights.
Bruce Carey has been practicing criminal defense exclusively in Eagle County for 30 years. He has successfully handled thousands of cases and many trials including Sex Assault, DUIs and Domestic Violence.
Mr. Carey graduated from the University of Colorado in three years. At the University he was appointed to the Environmental Board of the student government where he served for two years.
Mr. Carey graduated from The Denver University Law School in 1989.
Mr. Carey is a former deputy district attorney in Eagle County. Bruce won his first criminal jury trial before he was licensed to practice law. He was able to do this under the Student Practice Act that legally allows law students to practice prior to obtaining their bar results.
Bruce has practiced criminal law in Eagle for more than 30 years where he successfully prosecuted the first case of Reckless Skiing to go to trial in Colorado. Bruce was the Denver legal consultant for the Perry Mason television series for the final 4 years of the long running series and worked directly with Mr. Raymond Burr on legal accuracy. Bruce was an on air consultant for Fox News and ESPN on national television during the Kobe Bryant case in Eagle, Colorado.

Outside of Law
Prior to attending the University of Colorado, Bruce was a sergeant in the United States Army. He was a volunteer for the Eagle County Fair and Rodeo for more than 20 years and served on the board for 17 years and served on The Eagle County Zoning Board for 7 years.
